Leo Club of Swinburne Sarawak is related to:
Sponsoring Club, Lions Club of Kuching North (Kuching)
Leo clubs under the same Lions Club:
-Leo Club of SMK Green Road (Kuching)
-Leo Club of SMK Batu Lintang (Kuching)
-Leo Club of SM Chung Hua No 1 (Kuching)
Sister Club. Leo Club of Sibu Mandarin (Sibu) [Twinned in 2006]
Sister Club, Leo Club of George Town Mutiara (Penang) [Twinned in 2010]
There are formal events held such as the initiation ceremony and the installation ceremony. The club has more fellowships compared to others because fellowship is important too. Fellowships enable Lions and Leos to reduce the relationship gap. It also enables us to learn from the experienced ones. Lions play an important role in Leo Clubs because Lions are often set as examples and leaders so that Leos could learn from them. That is why Lions and Leos should always get together. Luckily, some Lions gave us the chance to learn from them. In the club, everyone is given the chance to take part in most of the activities so that they could learn. After all, LEO is all about Leadership, Experience and Opportunity. Leos today, Leaders tomorrow.
There are joint projects by clubs from different zones, regions and even districts or countries. It proves that charity and service does not have any boarder. Love and care without limits. We are lucky to have two sister clubs, Leo Club of Sibu Mandarin and Leo Club of George Town Mutiara. These clubs are like seniors to us and sometimes we would ask opinions and ideas from them. Not forgetting the supportive Lions and Leos from District 308A2 too.
There are meaningful projects which are such as the Mooncake Festival Project and Blood Donation Project. We choose Lions Nursing Home for the Mooncake Festival Project is because of the lonely elders there. In this type of festival, most of the people would go back to their HOME, while these elders in the Lions Nursing Home pass this festival like other lonely and cold day. Elder's heart would be warmed when there are people accompanying them in this festival. Some elders even shed tears when they were given the mooncakes. Leos can help in touching people's heart too. In the Blood Donation Project, every single drop of blood is precious because each drop of blood might save a life. We are lucky that there are still many people supporting the Blood Donation project although it was in the Puasa month for the Muslims.
There are events which we helped homes to raise funds, such as the Cheshire Home Sale, Sarawak Children's Cancer Society Sale and The Salvation Army Sale. These homes depend heavily on the sales to generate income to support their expenses through out the year. Although preparing for the sales are tough, but Leos seems to like it when they can help someone, learn something and have fun at the same time. Thanks to our direct and indirect sponsors in some of our events. Without them, we might not be able to help much.
