Children Cancer Society Charity Sale
Written on: Sunday, September 27, 2009
Time: 8:21 AM

In the morning of 4th July 2009, Leo Club of Swinburne Sarawak participated in a charity Food Fair sales organized Children Cancer Society by the in hopes to raise fund for the centre. Seven of us from the Leo Club of Swinburne Sarawak were participated in this sale; Leo Darrel Lim, Leo Maxbie Teo, Leo Danny Lai, Leo Emily fong, Leo Winnie, Leo Rosemarry and Leo Carol Chan. The fund raised from this project will be donated to Children Cancer Society.

Our university, Swinburne University of technology (Sarawak campus) is very support in this charity sale. After we summit our proposal of this charity sale to SSSC, our university donated some plastic bag and 2 boxes of mineral water for us to sell and also RM200 in this project.

We arrived at the venue at 7 am in the morning and arranged the food on the table. The number of our stall was 22. The foods that we sell on that day were 100 packs of chicken rice, 60 pieces of sandwiches, 20 bottles of vegetarian source and 4 boxes of mineral water. We sold the chicken rice with 1 bottle of mineral water at RM5, RM3 each for sandwiches and RM 4 each for the vegetarian source. Due to high competitor from the other chicken rice stalls around our area, we decided to lower down the price of our chicken rice to RM4 at around 9am. We manage to sell all the products except few bottle of vegetarian source at 10.30am. At last, we managed to collect RM625 from the sales. This collected fund including the cost of the ingredients and materials is donated to Children Cancer Society.

From the sale, we learned to co-operate to each other as team members. It took our committee members a lot of hard work and effort to make this sale a success. It also improved our communication, marketing and planning skills. At the same time, we were all enjoying this experience and glad that we managed to raise fund for Children Cancer Society.

I am hoping forward to have another charity sale similar to this one. Leo Club of Swinburne Sarawak will kindly agree in participating next time.
