Care Project at Bau

That morning, Leo Club of Swinburne University Sarawak decided to join in the Care project with Leo Club of St. Thomas to Bau. Leos from our club present were Leo Danny Lai, Joanne Lim, Kelvin Chong, Darrel Lim,Chong Man Yen, Yeo May Ying, Vincent Teo, Phang Boon Fui, Rosemary Yen, Thein Jia Yee. The project is aimed at exposing the members of the club to the concept of servicing and volunteering as well as to raise the awareness about the less fortunate ones living in the rural areas in our society today.
We meet the Leos and Lions from Leo Club of St. Thomas at Siang Siang Coffee Shop in MJC at 10AM and started our journey after that.
Details of the family:
· Father ,aged 43, works as a contract worker cutting grass. · Mother, aged 39, house wife. · Monthly income · Survived on the vegetables grown on a small garden patch across the road and meat is a luxury for them · No electric and piped water supply. · The hut of their house does not have a ceiling and is 9 years old . The parents cannot afford to send the children to school as the transport costs RM5.00 one way to school. . They survive on vegetables grown on a small garden patch across the road. . Meat considered a luxury item, is seldom eaten, though a few chickens were reared.

We interacted with them. In the end, we donated 2 bags of Rice , 4 bottles of cooking oil, 12cans of Condense Milk, Biscuits, 2 trays of chicken egg, some instant noodles, sugar, used clothings and many more.

About
Leo Club of Swinburne University (Sarawak Campus) was established and chartered on 28th October 2005 with Leo Kenneth Mah as the founder and the first president. Our club was kindly sponsored by the Lions Club of Kuching North, with Lion Edric Chan and Lion Gerald Ng being the Leo Advisors whose commitments over the years has brought us to a greater height.
During the first year of establishment, various activities were carried successfully. In 2006, our club twined with Leo Club of Sibu Mandarin.
