Region 1 Leo Camp 2009
Written on: Sunday, September 27, 2009 Time: 7:53 AM
On 28-30 August, Region 1 Leo camp had successfully organize by Leo Danny Lai(Leo Club of Swinburne Sarawak ) and Leo Mei Chin ( Leo Club of Sungai Tapang) . The principal consultant for the camp is DC Lion Mike Lim and the Camp Chief is Mr. Peroz Mc Pherson. There were 12 Leo Club’s members from different Leo Club and 5 other participants participate in that Leo Camp. The Venue is at Mount Mike, 10th mile Matang, Kuching which is also a villa of DC Lion Mike Lim. On the 28th August, there were few activities going on. A first activity was Blind Folded game which we are blind folded and the commander leaded us went into the jungle. Next, we were tried to build up our tents and our toilets and bathroom. At night, after our dinner, we went for a night walk in the mountain. Last activities of the days were writing a comment on the activities we did and lesson that we learned for the day. On the second day, we cooked for our own breakfast and learned how to start a fire with only one match. We played obstacles and games such as trust fall, holding hands and untangle ourselves, Spiderman games that promote team work. At night, we have our barbeque. A video clip of the“Acheh Tsunami incident” was shown that night. We learned that one should contribute morally and financially to those who are more unfortunate then us and learn to appreciate life. On the last day, we went to the waterfall and played. Then, we made our own raft and had rafting and swimming competition. After we packed our tents, we have our sharing moment together. In conclude, I personally feel that is not only a physical camp but spiritual. I learned lots of lesson from this camp. The most meaningful lesson that I learned from the camp was social skills. For example, the ages of the participants were between 12-20 years old, and that is a great opportunity for me to learn how to overcome the gaps between us and acts as a team. I strongly hope that we can organize a camp with cooperate with Lion Mike Lim again and let the other Leo club members have a chance to experience something that they cannot found on book.
